Delicious Experience, No pun intended...

I like the idea of the Delicious accounts, but I am already severally addicted to Pinterest.   From what I can tell, Delicious is similar to Pinterest in that they are both considered social bookmarking accounts.  One of my concerns is having my name pop up on google searches. I am strict with myself about what I allow my students to be able to find.  I do love having a new way to search and save possible interactive lessons for my students.  I do occasionally surf the web without the use of Pinterest and come across sites I would like to keep track of.  I see myself using my Delicious account for logging and keeping track of pictures and visual aides I find and want to use in the classroom.  I find that my students respond well to visuals such as pictures and videos, and I will most likely use my account to fit this need.  I will definitely be keeping the accounts I have created for ECAP, and will discover where I can use them in the classroom.

My Glogster Experience

My experience with Glogster has been an enjoyable one. I enjoyed making my mock handout for English, and I am planning on implementing a Glogster assignment in my current classroom.  Glogster could be used in both my English and Reading classes, and I believe that my students would find the assignment as enjoyable as I have.  I have my English students create writers note books for every novel read, one for every nine weeks.  A Glogster poster would be a welcome addition to my students notebooks.  We are getting ready to read The Lightening Thief as a class, and I am thinking that each student should create a Glogster poster for a Greek God or Goddess!  I am always trying to think of new ways to get my students interacting with text and their subjects in school.  I use pinterest a lot when planning activities.  I believe that  Glogster is another tool I can add to my repertoire. The hardest part about the assignment would be obtaining a day in the computer lab!

The Wonderful World of English

Hello and welcome to the classroom blog of Mrs. Junk.  This semester we will be working on grammar suing mentor sentences, literature and a series of fun and rigorous worksheet.  We will be reading two books, Where the Red Fern Grows and The Lightning Thief.  I am looking forward to reading and exploring both mentor texts with you throughout the next semester.  We will be working on our figurative language (e.g. metaphor, simile, personification, etc.)  Watch the above video to get an idea of the literary elements we will be discussing this year.  And, if you want to get a head start on your grammar usage, head over to this website to play some fun, interactive grammar games!  I look forward to getting to know you and interacting with you during the learning process!
